THE new owners of Aberdeen’s St Nicholas Kirk have revealed their plans to turn the building into a tourism landmark.
Edinburgh Pallete have taken over the running of the majority of the building. The primary strategy for the church, as envisioned by the new owners, is a “heritage trail”. This initiative aims to highlight the site’s historical significance and the city, with the goal of boosting tourism and visitor numbers throughout Aberdeen.

This trail will conclude at Drums Isle, the site of the memorial for oil and gas employees, where the story of the church and Aberdeen’s past will be showcased in a pop-up exhibition.
Over a hundred items are exhibited in the Kirk of St Nicholas, which the leaders of the church assure will be preserved. Statues and stonework dating back to the 1300s will be on display at the kirk, while artifacts highlighting Aberdeen’s involvement in both World Wars will also be on view.
The new owners plan to preserve as much of the building’s interior as possible.
