Aberdeen’s Studio 10 is quickly emerging as the city’s go-to destination for high-profile celebrities and marketing agencies, having solidified its reputation as one of Scotland’s fastest-growing media businesses. The innovative media company recently hosted the much-loved duo Laura Whitmore and Iain Stirling following a spectacular live podcast stage show the night before in the city centre.

Held at the iconic Aberdeen Music Hall as part of the Granite Noir festival, the event featured a debut live incarnation of the hugely popular podcast starring TV personalities Laura Whitmore—known for her work on MTV, This Morning and Love Island—alongside Scottish comedian and national treasure Iain Stirling. The show, a dynamic stage adaptation of the couple’s hit podcast “Murder They Wrote,” captivated an audience of true crime and podcast fans. The evening left attendees shocked, delighted and intrigued in equal measure and was a major success for the presenter-partner team.

Following the live show, both Whitmore and Stirling headed to Studio 10, where they produced several episodes of their hit BBC Sounds show, underscoring the studio’s magnetic appeal to top-tier talent.

Founded by 27-year-old Johnny Brooks, one of the country’s youngest BAFTA Associates and highly sought-after media producer, Studio 10 has rapidly become a hotspot for touring actors, musicians, and sports personalities. Offering a unique suite of services—from photo and video production to podcasts, audiobooks, and live-streaming — the company has become a vital resource for high-profile brands and agencies alike. Its innovative approach has led to collaborations with some of the largest companies in the world, including Amazon, BBC, and Weber Shandwick, while also recording other hit shows including the chart-topping podcast Uncanny starring Danny Robbins.

In a statement reflecting his excitement about the flourishing creative scene in Aberdeen, Brooks remarked:

“Aberdeen is a really exciting place to be right now, I dare say people are finally paying attention and some of the incredible people, businesses and facilities here are being noticed. We’ve got a great business community and a massively underrated pool of creative talent so it’s amazing to see people travel from far and wide to engage with us and produce amazing media and events together.”

When asked why this is happening now, Brooks shared the following:

“Working with the likes of Laura and Iain only further solidifies the excitement and buzz we are feeling here in the city just now, the media industry is an exciting place to be anywhere in the world, but we are seeing an exciting uptick as Aberdeen joins the conversation thanks to exciting festivals like Spectra and Granite Noir, especially when paired with the global reach of podcasts and user-generated content making these more visible than ever. I have to give major credit to the remarkable people and companies of Aberdeen putting stellar events and entertainment on in our city and doing everything they can to revitalise the city centre.”

To date, Studio 10 has not only captivated audiences with live mystery podcast-style events that have drawn cast members from shows like Game of Thrones and Still Game, but it also earned the prestigious UK Business Award for Excellence in Audience Engagement in 2024. Now, with millions of highly engaged viewers in over 37 countries, Studio 10’s relentless drive and innovative spirit continue to inspire others in the media space and set new benchmarks for content engagement in this part of the world.
