SugarBird Wines’ crowdfunding campaign surpasses the 50% mark

LAUNCHED just under four weeks ago, SugarBird Wines has already surpassed 50% of its £100,000 crowdfunding target to support its new wine bar, SugarBird in the Gardens, at The Burns Pavilion in Union Terrace Gardens (UTG).

Capturing the attention of both new and existing customers, the varied packages have appealed to a high volume of people and businesses from across the region, offering each of them the unique opportunity to receive an extra 25% of redeemable credit on top of the purchased package, as well as first access to event bookings.

Ranging from £40 up to £4,000, supporters can spend their credit in any SugarBird premises or via its online store.

Higher value packages include private tasting events as well as branded SugarBird Coravins and merchandise. Additionally, the £4,000 package is the perfect opportunity for corporate entertaining or those looking to host celebrations, as it includes a private event at SugarBird in the Gardens for up to 40 people.

Following the astronomical success and demand for the campaign, the crowdfunding incentive will come to a close on Monday, July 31, meaning there is limited time remaining to take advantage of the offers.

Alongside the crowdfunding campaign, SugarBird Wines has also been running a competition to win a trip to South Africa, with each pledge purchased since June 21 automatically entered into the draw. Following the substantial amount of individual pledges, the chance to win this incredible holiday will end at 11.59pm on Friday, July 21. Any pledge up until this point will still be included in the draw*.

Winners of the competition will win flights for two to South Africa up to the value of £1,000 per person. Throughout the duration of the trip, winners will take advantage of a two-night stay at a wine farm with one dinner for two included as well as wine tasting. Additionally, they will receive dinner for two at the SugarBird team’s restaurant SeaBreeze, located on Bree Street, Cape Town.

Alex Grahame, co-founder of SugarBird Wines said: “We are blown away by the interest in our crowdfunding campaign, and we’re so thankful to all those who have pledged so far.

“Our aim with this campaign was to ensure we delivered value to our incredible customers, both existing and new, so the extra 25% value along with first access to event bookings, is to help show our appreciation for their support.

“We also wanted to add the South Africa competition as it really is an incredible destination for wine lovers. We have a vast selection of South African wine in our store and bar which always goes down a treat with customers. We’d encourage as many people as possible to take advantage of pledging prior to July 21 to be in for a chance of winning this trip.”

SugarBird Wines is Aberdeen City Council’s preferred bidder for the pavilion and unveiled plans for its new venue in response to the success of its existing Union Grove premises as well as demand for event enquiries. Set to open in November 2023, SugarBird in the Gardens will have capacity for up to 125 people.

Occupying the pavilion’s two floors, the upper and lower level will each feature a bar and table seating, while the lower floor will also be available to reserve for event bookings. Additionally, the new venue will have a desirable outdoor terrace area, enhancing ‘cafe culture’ within the city and offering space for al fresco drinks.

Designed by award-winning interior designer and architect, Tibbatts Abel, the new wine bar will incorporate jewel tones that balance luxury, quality and comfort, creating a relaxing ambience where customers can explore the wine selection while being guided by a highly knowledgeable team.

To be in with the chance to win a trip to South Africa, you must purchase a crowdfunding package before 11.59pm on Friday, July 21. Pledges made between Saturday, July 22 and the closing crowdfunding date of Monday, July 31 will not be entered and will only include the value as outlined in the package on purchase.
