Charging hours for city centre on-street parking, and Council operated off-street car parks, will remain as they are following a decision taken by the Net Zero, Environment, and Transport committee today.
Councillors considered the impact of increasing chargeable hours in several city centre parking zones and nine public car parks, but following consultation with citizens it was decided not to proceed with the change.
In Case You Missed it:
Aberdeen City Council Co-Leader Councillor Ian Yuill said: “During the public consultation on the proposed changes, people raised concerns about extending chargeable parking hours on Sundays. We have listened to those concerns and will not be extending parking charges. Sunday mornings in the city centre are different from other days of the week, and it is important the Council recognises that.”
Times for city centre parking charges will remain set at between 1-5pm on Sundays.
Income generated by parking charges is first used to maintain parking facilities, with any surplus income used to meet costs for council ran public transport services, or for roads improvements projects.
