SWIRE Energy Services (SES), a leading offshore aviation service provider, has taken a pioneering leap in enhancing aviation solutions with the launch of its Scalable Aviation Weather Observation System (SAWOS). This groundbreaking system, approved by the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA), marks SES as the first offshore aviation service provider to have its helideck monitoring system.

The introduction of SAWOS enables SES to offer a comprehensive helideck and refuelling solution for the offshore market, presenting a seamless end-to-end service that promises significant cost and time savings for operators. The system delivers precise, real-time data on helideck surfaces, surrounding airspace, weather conditions, and high-speed environmental monitoring, ensuring more efficient, cost-effective, safe, and sustainable offshore operations for floating installations and vessels.

Wayne Manning, Vice President of Oil & Gas and Aviation at SES, expressed enthusiasm about the launch, stating, “After two years of development, we are excited to officially launch our combined helideck and environmental monitoring system SAWOS. This system is designed to enable operators to access accurate and quality-controlled data in real-time while meeting stringent industry safety regulations and certification standards.”

Manning emphasized that the new system positions SES to further support its global customer base and the wider offshore industry by expanding the range of aviation services offered. The unified offering allows customers to work with a single supplier, streamlining processes and ultimately saving time and money.

Nathan Munro, Commercial Manager for Aviation at SES, highlighted the advanced functionality of SAWOS, stating, “SAWOS has significantly enhanced functionality and goes far beyond the capabilities of helideck monitoring systems currently on the market. Fully customisable to suit our clients’ requirements, our system unlocks possibilities both on and beyond the helideck.”

This includes helideck audits, friction testing, upgrades, and maintenance, along with refuelling systems supply and rental, inspection, certification, and consultancy services.
