Aberdeen’s skies will be lit up this evening as the world-famous Red Arrows perform a thrilling display above the city to mark the final day of the Tall Ships Races 2025.
Residents and visitors alike are in for a visual spectacle as the RAF’s elite aerobatic team takes off from Aberdeen International Airport and embarks on a circular flypast across the north-east – offering prime viewing opportunities in Kintore, Insch, Rhynie, Strachan and Peterculter before a dramatic display over the Granite City, at the beach esplanade.
The aircraft are scheduled to depart Dyce at 17:18 and begin their route south-west of Kintore at 17:20, before passing:
- North-east of Insch at 17:22
- South-east of Rhynie at 17:24
- South of Strachan at 17:27
- East of Peterculter at 17:29
- Aberdeen Display at 17:30 (Beach Esplanade)
They will then fly out over the North Sea and return to Aberdeen Airport at approximately 17:58.
The display comes after the team’s weekend plans were adjusted due to delays at the Royal International Air Tattoo at RAF Fairford. Their Aberdeen flyover now acts as one of their final public displays before returning to base at RAF Waddington in Lincolnshire later this evening.

The Red Arrows are renowned for their precision, speed and dazzling aerobatics, with displays forming a key part of major UK events each summer. However, the RAF advises that all timings and routes are subject to change, and that not all passes are at low level – visibility may vary depending on weather and location.
Today’s event is expected to draw large crowds across Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire as part of the Tall Ships closing celebrations, which have welcomed nearly 50 vessels and hundreds of thousands of visitors to the city.
