A new online service which helps people get odd jobs done has launched by an Aberdeen businesswoman.
Designed for busy people who are struggling to find the time to get everything done, Task Junkies connects people who have tasks to do, with people in the local community who want to earn some money.

Using the reverse auction platform alongside reviews and ratings, users can choose the lowest price, the highest rated or the bidder of their choice.
Any type of job can be posted on the site; the most common are expected to be ironing, cleaning, gardening and assembling flat pack furniture. Research by Vodafone in 2016 confirmed that ironing is the most hated chore in Scotland with cleaning the oven and cleaning the bathroom close behind. Paying other people to collect takeaway food and undertake IT work are also expected to be popular.
The site is free to join, and task posters pay bidders directly.
Task Junkies founder, Irene Holden said, “As everyone’s lives get busier, it becomes more difficult to get all the jobs around your house done. Task Junkies is an easy way to find rated people, local to you, to help with your chores.”
She explained, “Every community has a huge wealth of talent, which often goes untapped. Task Junkies makes it easier to find people in your neighbourhood who can pop over and do odd jobs quickly. We expect a variety of people to bid for tasks, from students and retired people to stay at home mums and people who are out of work. We also encourage trades people to join the site and use it as a way of finding new business.”
She added, “In the Aberdeen area, in particular, we are keen to address unemployment by providing a platform that enables both skilled and unskilled people to bid on tasks that are within their capability, providing them with a source of income. The platform helps potential employers see that people are willing to work, with reviews to support their efforts.”
Task Junkies is being launched in Scotland initially, with a view to rolling it out in the rest of the UK later in the year.
