Motorists and residents are reminded that temporary road closures and traffic restrictions will be in place around Duthie Park on Wednesday 27 May to support the safe delivery of Aberdeen Big Sing and Play 2026.
The event will bring together more than 3,000 Primary 4 pupils from across the city, to celebrate singing and live music-making, including for the first time performances alongside musicians from the Royal Scottish National Orchestra (RSNO) and Aberdeen City Council’s Music Service.
The Music Service has worked in partnership with the RSNO and Charanga to deliver this year’s event. Teaching and learning time in schools has been supported by the Scottish Government’s Youth Music Initiative through Creative Scotland.
The event will begin at 11am and finish at 12pm.
The following temporary road closures and traffic restrictions will be in place on the day of the event:
Road closure (9am-2pm)
- Great Southern Road, between its junctions with Riverside Drive and Whinhill Road
An alternative route will be available via Riverside Drive, Riverside Place and Holburn Street.
Right turn ban (9am-2pm)
- There will be a right turn ban from Polmuir Road onto Riverside Drive.
No Waiting restrictions (9am-2pm)
- Polmuir Road (both sides), Duthie Park entrance to Riverside Drive
- Polmuir Road (east side), Fonthill Road to Duthie Park entrance
- Murray Terrace (south side), Polmuir Road to house number 13 on Murray Terrace
Drivers and residents are advised to plan ahead and follow all temporary traffic management signage while restrictions are in place.
In Case You Missed it:
Parents and carers of participating pupils are encouraged to walk, use public transport or car share where possible.
For those travelling by car, parking is available in the Duthie Park car parks or along Riverside Drive.
Please note that the car parks in Duthie Park are expected to be full during the event.
