Launched in 2020 by husband-and-wife team Caroline and Thomas Laurenson, from Inverurie, Kindspace was created as a result of the loneliness felt by people during covid.

Powered via Amazon Alexa, co-founder and Managing Director, Caroline, explains how the wellbeing voice app supports us to track our wellbeing throughout the day, “We designed Kindspace to empower people to better manage their self-care and to help alleviate issues such as stress, anxiety and loneliness.

“The app prompts us to create moments of mindfulness by checking out of life’s busy bubble. Kindspace puts you back in control and helps you keep track of your energy levels and feelings.”

Kindspace (part of the TL Tech brand) raises awareness of key wellbeing indicators, encouraging the formation of new habits and signposts to other areas of support. The app allows its users to access daily wellbeing tips and offers advice in areas such as sleep, nutrition, relationships, and personal growth.

Kindspace is reaching customers in the UK and across the globe in the US, Canada, Australia and India as it continues to expand its consumer base. They currently have over 600 free users and a 4.4 star rating out of 5 in the Amazon Alexa Skill Store reviews. The interest in new use cases for voice technology is growing, with TL Tech kicking off new projects to create Alexa voice experiences for a charity and a digital theatre company. The TL Tech team will be travelling to Canada later this month to further explore opportunities in international markets and meet with specialists in Artificial Intelligence.

“When we first founded the company, we quickly realised how transformative these technologies can be,” continued Caroline.

“We really wanted to create something that would help people experiencing loneliness and declining mental health. We have a passion for helping people and we try to give our customers the confidence to try new things in their homes when it comes to smart home tech.”

Both Thomas and Caroline have used their own life experiences to design and develop Kindspace, “As we were building Kindspace, we realised how much of our own experiences could help our technology reach its full potential to become something quite special and powerful.”

With World Kindness Day fast approaching on November 13th, Caroline says Kindspace is ideally placed to help people find a spark of joy in the darkest of times.

“Even in life’s most difficult moments, there is still often joy to be found, but finding this and moving forward can be hard. We all have the ability to help each other through shared challenges and we are extremely proud to have developed a technology that can offer people practical advice and a kind listening ear.”

The ground-breaking technology has catapulted Kindspace onto the national awards stage with a win in this year’s Elevator Awards in the Spirit of Enterprise category, as well as a number of finalists positions in the Great British Entrepreneur Awards, Abilitynet Tech for Good Awards, and the Northern Star Business Awards.

Internationally, Kindspace has been recognised with a second place award in the Sparky’s and winning the UK heat of the Interreg EU funded IT4Anxiety competition. Caroline herself has been named as one of the top 200 women in Conversational AI and will be attending the Project Voice conference in Chattanooga, US, as an honoured guest at their special women’s day celebration.
