The Safe is the first interactive safety education centre in the north-east of Scotland and is designed to teach people of all ages about safety and social issues in different environments. These include road safety, home safety, fire safety, anti-social behaviour and internet safety.

The charity reports that over 2,000 pupils, 695 community groups and 620 people from businesses across Aberdeen have taken part in education days at the venue since it opened. A further 2,000 school pupils are also booked in to take part in sessions in the fourth term of the school year.

Due to its success, Absafe has also doubled its workforce by recruiting three new members to its team in roles covering volunteering, office management and education.

Emma Bellu, Chief Executive of Absafe, said: “It has been a busy and exciting few months for Absafe. The opening of The Safe marked a key milestone for us and we’re so pleased to see so many people across Aberdeen city and shire using the dedicated facility, with lots more set to visit in the new school term.

“We’d like to thank all those who have supported us over the years and in helping us to create The Safe. Without their backing our vision for The Safe could not have been realised. This invaluable support has allowed us to continue to educate people about the importance of safety – and better still – be able to conduct this in an interactive and engaging environment.”
