Two new shows announced for His Majesty’s Theatre promise to chill and thrill in equal measure with psychological suspense classic The Silence of the Lambs visiting the city theatre in 2026 and gripping mystery The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-time coming to Aberdeen in 2027.

The Silence of the Lambs will make its world stage play premiere in 2026, stopping off in Aberdeen from Tuesday, September 1 to Saturday, September 5 2026, while The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-time is set to captivate audiences from Tuesday, March 23 to Saturday, March 27, 2027.

Aberdeen Performing Arts Chief Executive, Sharon Burgess, said: “The Silence of the Lambs is a literary masterpiece synonymous with the thriller genre, with the film version widely considered to be one of the greatest of all time, so we are really excited that it’s coming to Aberdeen on its first tour as a stage play.

“The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-time is another groundbreaking novel. This is a truly unique, compelling and impactful mystery and an incredible theatrical experience which we are delighted to be bringing to HMT.”

Global cultural phenomenon The Silence of the Lambs will hold its world stage play premiere in 2026. When FBI trainee Clarice Starling is sent to interview the psychiatrist and infamous murderer Hannibal Lecter, it’s hoped his brilliant mind will help catch sadistic new serial killer, Buffalo Bill. Another girl is missing, and time is running out. But Dr Lecter has questions of his own, and now Clarice must decide: keep a safe distance, or let Hannibal ‘The Cannibal’ into her head?

The internationally celebrated novel that captivated 10 million readers and inspired a groundbreaking National Theatre production, The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-time, returns in a brand-new staging more thrilling than ever.

Christopher Boone is gifted with a brilliant mind for numbers but unsettled by the unpredictability of people and everyday life. When a neighbour’s dog is discovered killed, he finds himself under suspicion. Determined to prove his innocence, Christopher becomes both detective and suspect, drawn into a mystery that grows darker and more complex with every clue he uncovers. What begins as the search for a culprit soon reveals secrets closer to home, forcing him to confront truths that will test his courage, his family, and his

understanding of trust, independence, and the wider world. Inventive, gripping, and moving, The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time combines the intrigue of a whodunnit with a powerful coming-of-age story in an unforgettable stage production.
