THE former Bon-Accord Sparkling Drinks building on Greyhope Road could be demolished in a bid to create a whisky distillery overlooking the harbour.

The old juice factory has lay vacant for more than two decades, but new papers sent to the council from the people that run Deeside Distillery could see a new cafe and shop on the site, though it would be mainly used for producing whisky.

The design proposals include a “simple yet dynamic” new-build with adjoining sheds and steep pitched roofs.

The plans from MB Properties also show “expansive glazing”, ensuring “dynamic” views of Aberdeen’s harbour.

The old drinks factory opened in the city in the 1960s, but closed in 2000, blaming a switch to plastic bottles.
