AN awards ceremony that recognises the talents of North-east tradespeople is to be hosted virtually for the first time in its eight-year history – due to Covid-19 restrictions.

This year’s Trades Awards finalists have been revealed and winners will now be announced at the virtual event on October 9.

The Trades Awards were launched eight years ago to celebrate excellence within the North-east construction industry, and each year the black-tie ceremony brings together over 400 people from all disciplines.

Mike Wilson, Mearns & Gill managing director, who organises the event, said: “The change to online allows us to plan safely and responsibly, whilst opening up the celebrations for even more people to attend.

“This also means that entire companies are now able to experience the exact moment their colleagues pick up a trophy. Family members and friends of our outstanding individuals can share in their success, and we do hope that everyone will still dress up for the occasion.”
