ScotRail has cancelled all train operations today as Storm Eowyn affects Scotland’s northern and northeastern regions.

The train service provider has suspended all scheduled nationwide operations, stating that it will not be safe to run services given the anticipated weather conditions.

As winds intensify across the area, residents are encountering power interruptions in communities throughout Aberdeenshire and the western Highlands.

Floodgates in the north and northeast are also set to be secured, with significant travel disruptions expected for the rest of the day.

The Met Office has issued multiple weather alerts for both today and Saturday, as the area is forecasted to experience 80mph winds and snowfall.

Residents in coastal towns such as Aberdeen, Stonehaven, Peterhead, and Fraserburgh are preparing for the most severe weather conditions.

People in these regions have been strongly advised against traveling under any circumstances.

Additionally, several areas in the north are facing power outages.

The Hazlehead and Countesswells neighbourhoods in Aberdeen have experienced an unexpected loss of electricity, impacting an estimated 56 SSEN customers.

In Aberdeenshire, Denhead and Kirkton of Logie, located east of Ellon, are also suffering from outages.

Certain parts of Mintlaw, including sections of Station Road, are also experiencing power loss.

Rathen has been affected as well, with 42 residents without power.

Birse and Ballogie, near Aboyne, have also lost electricity.

In the northern Highlands, Portgower and Helmsdale have reported outages, along with some properties along the A897. Campbeltown and the Ross of Mull are also without electricity in the Western Isles.
