Two of the world’s energy engine rooms will come together for a unique event which will take place in Aberdeen and Dundee next week.

The annual Aberdeen-Houston Gateway, hosted by Granite PR, has become a much-anticipated fixture on the business calendar, annually sparking interest from both sides of the Atlantic in the opportunity to network and knowledge share on an international platform.

As two of the founder members of the World Energy Cities Partnership, Aberdeen and Houston have a long and deep relationship which will be explored thanks to the seventh annual event, in association with the Greater Houston Partnership.

Making the trip to Scotland will be a delegation of leading Houston business representatives including event chairman Jeffrey Blair (Greater Houston Partnership), Alan McCartney (OMNI Flow), Andrew Derry (British International School of Houston), Andy Grieve (Hampco and G-Tech Innovation Center), Frank Landreneau (PKF Texas), Lorna Ramsay (Houston Grampian Association) and Derek Blackwood OBE (Global Scot).

Again, one highlight of a busy week will be the flagship lunch at Macdonald Norwood Hall Hotel, Aberdeen on March 26th, a session which regularly draws an audience in excess of 120. During the event delegates will have the chance to benefit from networking and knowledge sharing opportunities over a mouth-watering Scottish showcase lunch.  They will also hear from a line-up of leading speakers from both sides of the Atlantic who will share their experiences of UK and US markets and examined how to further strengthen the links between the cities.

In a bid to lengthen the bridge created by the Aberdeen-Houston Gateway this year’s event will grow to encompass Dundee thanks to a new addition in the form of: “Houston Meets Dundee.”  Building on the success of the recent inaugural Dundee & Angus Expo, this portion of the programme will be held in association with Dundee & Angus Chamber of Commerce and will create a platform from which Scottish and American delegates can explore the many opportunities which exist between Dundee, Angus, Houston and Texas.

Commenting on plans for the 2019 event, Granite PR founder and managing director, and Aberdeen-Houston Gateway creator Brett Jackson said: “Last year was our best attended Aberdeen-Houston Gateway since 2014, clearly demonstrating the appetite which still exists for the knowledge this event imparts to delegates.

“On the build-up to the 50th OTC in May, at which we will be exhibiting, we are again indebted to all those who have thrown their support behind the Aberdeen-Houston Gateway, particularly those who will make the journey from Texas to be with us.”

Jeffrey Blair, Director Europe, Middle East & Africa for the Greater Houston Partnership added: “I am honored once again to chair this year’s Aberdeen-Houston Gateway event for the second year in a row.  I am keen to hear about what is new in Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire and to share what is new in the area of innovation in Greater Houston, centered around energy but also in other industries that have ‘crossover appeal’.”
