True North Advisors has strengthened its senior team with the appointment of a dedicated Head of Marketing, as the fast-growing communications, marketing and public affairs agency continues to expand across the UK.

Rhona Gillan will join the firm in August, bringing more than a decade of experience spanning marketing strategy, brand development, digital communications, content creation and stakeholder engagement.

Gillan joins from Hampton, where she played a key role in the business’s growth, including leading a successful management buyout and supporting the development of client relationships in a senior marketing capacity. Her experience also includes working with food and drink businesses, charities, fundraising campaigns and purpose-led organisations, further enhancing True North’s ability to support clients across both the private and third sectors.

In her new role, she will lead the agency’s expanding marketing offer, working with clients across a range of sectors to develop integrated strategies, strengthen brand positioning and deliver campaigns designed to drive commercial growth.

Her appointment comes as True North continues to build its client portfolio across Aberdeen, Edinburgh and London.

Geoff Aberdein, Managing Partner at True North Advisors, said: “When we launched True North three years ago, we set out to build a different kind of agency – one that brought together expertise in communications, public affairs, marketing, and creative services under one roof.

“Rhona’s appointment is another important step in our journey and reflects our commitment to investing in the very best talent as we continue to grow and deliver outstanding results for our clients.

“She brings an outstanding blend of strategic thinking, creativity and commercial insight, alongside a deep understanding of Scotland’s business landscape. Working closely with Senior Partner, Ryan Crighton, Rhona will play a key role in continuing to enhance our marketing offer, ensuring our growing roster of clients benefit from integrated campaigns that deliver positive impact.”

Rhona Gillan, Head of Marketing at True North Advisors, added: “I’m thrilled to be joining True North at such an exciting stage in its journey.

“The business has built an outstanding reputation for strategic communications and public affairs, and I’m looking forward to further growing its marketing offer, while working alongside an exceptional team of talented advisers.

“True North has ambitious plans for the future, and I’m excited to play a part in helping both the agency and its clients continue to grow.”
