PROFESSOR Siladitya Bhattacharya has been appointed to the role of Vice-Principal (Global Engagement) at the University of Aberdeen following an internal recruitment process.

Professor Bhattacharya has been Head of the School of Medicine, Medical Sciences and Nutrition since 2019 and has an established track record in senior academic leadership. Professor Bhattacharya has extensive experience in strategic development, leading large teams and building strong relationships with University colleagues as well as stakeholders at national and international levels.

Commenting on his appointment, Professor Bhattacharya said: “I am delighted to take on this new role. This is an exciting opportunity to work with colleagues across the University to strengthen our existing international partnerships, develop new alliances and promote our academic strengths globally.”

He will take on the role on an interim basis for a period of 18 months from August 1, 2024.
