Scottish STEM charity, TechFest, is excited to announce the return of its popular 24 Days of STEM Advent Calendar, a free, digital, family-friendly Christmas initiative, designed to spark curiosity and imagination in learners of all ages.

Running 1–24 December, the project has already welcomed over 15,000 registered participants, breaking all previous records. The initiative invites people from Scotland and around the world to enjoy daily Christmas-themed STEM challenges, hands-on experiments, and fascinating facts. All content remains available to explore, no matter when you register.

Some of this year’s activities include Christmas Code Breaking, a Christmas Around the World Quiz and Snowflake Symmetry, alongside many more creative ways to explore science, technology, engineering and maths with a seasonal twist.

Now in its fourth year, the Advent Calendar continues to champion engaging, inclusive, and accessible STEM learning, whether in classrooms, community groups, or at home. Activities use simple household materials, making it easy for everyone to get involved.

Dr Martha Gavan, Managing Director at TechFest, said: “The 24 Days of STEM Advent Calendar is a project we look forward to every year. We believe that it truly helps young people see how STEM connects to real life, and it brings so much joy and curiosity to the run-up to Christmas.

“We always hear brilliant stories from teachers and families about the excitement it creates, and we’d love to welcome even more schools and families to take part this year, blending festive spirit with some STEM fun.”

TechFest is a Scottish charity with more than 35 years experience dedicated to promoting science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) to young people and communities across the country.

With industry facing growing STEM skills shortages as fewer young people pursue such career pathways, TechFest is working to help close the gap. The charity delivers creative, curriculum-aligned STEM learning that supports teachers and inspires people of all ages through hands-on activities, building the confidence and curiosity needed to see STEM as a real future opportunity.

Anyone can sign up for free at TechFest’s website, and gain access to all 24 festive activities, here:  https://techfest.org.uk/.
