The developers behind Aberdeenshire’s Ury Estate have secured £17 million in new funding to drive forward the next phase of the landmark residential and leisure development near Stonehaven.
The loan, provided by OakNorth Bank, will support progress on the retail and infrastructure works at the 1,600-acre estate and contribute to the ongoing construction of the Jack Nicklaus Signature golf course.
The funding will also enable the delivery of 89 new homes, including 18 luxury properties at Jack Nicklaus Village and 71 family homes at Glen Ury View.
The wider Ury Estate project aims to transform the historic site into a world-class countryside destination combining luxury living, retail space, and an international-standard golf course designed by legendary golfer Jack Nicklaus.
Nicklaus, who recently visited the site, said he was “enormously pleased” with the design of the course and confident it would be “worthy of Scotland and its global reputation for exceptional golf”. He added: “It always takes a while to create a great golf course, but I believe the Ury Estate course will be worth the wait and enjoyed by golfers for generations.”
The course is expected to open some holes in 2026, with full completion anticipated in 2027.
Jonathan Milne, founder of FM Group, which is leading the development, welcomed the funding as a major milestone for the project. “We are very pleased to be working with OakNorth again on this remarkable development,” he said. “This investment allows us to deliver key infrastructure and much-needed homes while progressing the golf course in partnership with Mr Nicklaus.”
He added: “We are grateful for the ongoing support from the Stonehaven community and Aberdeenshire Council as we continue to bring our vision for Ury Estate to life, creating a special environment that will be enjoyed for generations.”
Located just north of Stonehaven, Ury Estate combines rural living with easy access to Aberdeen, featuring a restored castle, luxury homes, and the centrepiece Jack Nicklaus Signature golf course designed to attract both international visitors and local players.
