NHS Grampian has introduced temporary visitor restrictions in two wards at Aberdeen Royal Infirmary as a precautionary measure following a small number of Covid cases.
Wards 110 and 308 are currently restricted to essential visitors only, as part of routine infection prevention protocols aimed at safeguarding patients, staff and the wider hospital community.
Normal visiting arrangements remain in place for all other areas of the hospital. Health officials are also encouraging members of the public who feel unwell to postpone visits to friends or family until they are feeling better.
In a statement, NHS Grampian reminded the public that common viruses such as Covid, flu and norovirus can spread easily in hospital environments and urged continued vigilance to help minimise risk.
The health board said: “Due to cases of COVID, wards 110 and 308 at Aberdeen Royal Infirmary are closed to all but essential visitors. Normal visiting applies in all other wards. If you are unwell, please do not visit relatives or friends in hospital. COVID, flu and norovirus are easily spread; help us stop them in their tracks.”
NHS Grampian continues to monitor the situation and will update the public should further changes be required.
