ABERDEEN & Grampian Chamber of Commerce is partnering with Georgetown Chamber of Commerce to host a free international market briefing, providing an opportunity to discover more about the wealth of new business potential for Scottish energy companies in Guyana.

The session will include insights from a range of speakers about the immediate need for businesses in Scotland to partner with indigenous companies including Greg Quinn, British High Commissioner to Guyana, Nicholas Deygoo, president of Georgetown Chamber of Commerce president; and Sherwyn Naughton, country director at the Department for International Trade.

Guyana is in the world’s top 20 oil reserves and the second highest in terms of potential among unexplored basins. The 6.6m acre Stabroek Block is also the largest crude discovery of recent years

Seona Shand, membership and events director at the Chamber, said: “Access to global markets is a great avenue to help drive business performance so we’re delighted to be partnering on this event to provide businesses in Scotland with the opportunity to understand the substantial energy market in Guyana.”

Taking place on September 10, the online briefing will allow for questions to be submitted in advance as well as raised during the session.

There will also be an opportunity to apply to join B2B meetings with prospective new partners as part of a virtual trade mission to Guyana later in the month.
