West Coast Estates completes construction Of Costa Coffee Drive-Thru

Work to develop a vacant Aberdeen office block into a Costa Coffee drive-thru has been completed by West Coast Estates and handed over for final fit-out.

The Tullos outlet, on the corner of Abbotswell Road and Wellington Road, will be Aberdeen’s largest Costa Coffee and its second drive-thru in the city. The £2m development is expected to create up to 20 jobs when it opens in the summer.

The proposal to transform the site, which had lain empty for more than two years was met with widespread backing from the community which included 400 letters of support.

Iftikar Mian, Director of West Coast Estates, said: “This has been a really positive project to work on from start to completion. We were overwhelmed with the level of support the plans attracted. Not only will the new outlet generate jobs locally, but it will also give people in the area a modern destination to meet and socialise.”

As well as providing a convenient drive-thru service, the Costa Coffee outlet will also provide seating for up to 94 people and parking for 34 cars. The 16-week construction programme, which was undertaken by contractor MTM, began in January and included the demolition of the existing office.

Tom Swords, Acquisition Manager at Costa Coffee, said: “We’re really excited to be opening a new Drive Thru store in the Tullos outlet in Aberdeen, creating 18-20 new jobs for the local area and bringing great coffee to customers when they need it the most. This is our second Drive Thru location in the city and, as with all of our openings, we look forward to being an integral part of the local community, getting involved in local events and offering a great meeting space.”
