Aberdeen-based William Nicol has appointed Martin O’Neill as its new Waste Treatment Manager, reinforcing the company’s commitment to delivering high-quality, compliant waste management solutions across Scotland.

The third-generation, family-run business, which has built a strong reputation in transport, industrial and engineering services, says the appointment reflects growing demand for specialist waste and environmental solutions across key sectors.

Martin joins the Portlethen-headquartered firm with extensive experience in the waste and environmental services industry. He brings a strong track record in operational management, customer service and regulatory compliance, positioning him to support the company’s continued growth in both industrial services and waste solutions.

In his new role, he will oversee William Nicol’s waste management operations, working closely with customers to deliver safe, efficient and environmentally responsible solutions, while ensuring adherence to the latest industry legislation.

Founded in 1935, William Nicol remains proudly family-owned and today provides industrial services, transport, liquid logistics and waste management solutions to customers across the energy, utilities, manufacturing, food and drink, and construction sectors. The company operates a licensed waste transfer station alongside a comprehensive fleet of specialist vehicles and industrial cleaning equipment.

Speaking about his appointment, Martin O’Neill said: “I’m delighted to be joining William Nicol at such an exciting time for the business. The company has built an outstanding reputation over the past 90 years for delivering reliable, professional services, and I’m looking forward to working with both existing and new customers to further develop our waste management offering.

“Sustainability, compliance and customer service are becoming increasingly important, and I’m excited to help customers find practical, efficient waste solutions that meet their operational needs.”

Darren Nicol, Managing Director at William Nicol, welcomed the appointment, adding: “Martin brings significant industry experience and shares the values that have underpinned William Nicol for generations. As demand continues to grow for specialist waste management and environmental services, his expertise will help us strengthen our offering and continue delivering the high standards of service our customers expect.

“We’re delighted to welcome Martin to the team and look forward to the knowledge and leadership he’ll bring as we continue investing in our people, our services and the future of the business.”

Employing more than 80 people, William Nicol has grown from a local transport company into one of Scotland’s leading providers of industrial services, transport, engineering and waste management solutions, while maintaining its family ethos and commitment to delivering clean, safe solutions.
