Wood wins Dounreay decommissioning services contract

Wood has won a multi-million dollar framework contract to provide decommissioning solutions at the Dounreay nuclear site in Scotland, UK.

Effective immediately, it will run for up to seven years including two potential extensions and is worth an estimated $520 million, shared among six suppliers. 

The decommissioning services framework covers construction of new build projects required to enable the decommissioning of the Dounreay site; deplanting, decommissioning, decontamination and demolition of redundant facilities; and all associated project management, controls, engineering, design, safety case and site remediation requirements.

Dounreay Site Restoration Ltd (DSRL), the company in charge of restoring the UK’s former fast reactor research and development centre in Caithness, has appointed preferred bidders who will compete for call-off contracts on projects to take the site to its interim end state.

Wood, as prime contractor, is partnered with sub-contractors Orano, GDES and Aquila under the Dounreay Wood Alliance.
