VISITAberdeenshire has unveiled details of an exciting competition\ndesigned to find the perfect piece of music to succinctly capture the cultural\nessence of the North-east of Scotland with the support of VisitScotland.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The \u2018Sound of the North-east\u2019 contest is open to practising\nmusicians with a connection to Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire who can produce a\npiece of music that will be used in promotional activity which will help\nattract more visitors to the region, and feature in events and campaigns\nlocally, nationally and internationally. \n<\/p>\n\n\n\n
VisitAberdeenshire is looking for solo musicians, songwriters,\nchoirs or bands to submit an entry with previous examples of their music in\naudio or video format. A panel of expert\njudges, including Jane Spiers chief executive of Aberdeen Performing Arts and\nUniversity of Aberdeen-based composer Paul Mealor, will determine the winner\ncommissioned to produce the final piece of music. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Chris Foy, VisitAberdeenshire, chief executive said: \u201cWe\u2019re\ncalling upon talented musicians to enter our competition to create something\nspecial, to align with the region\u2019s renewed enthusiasm in the arts. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThe region is enjoying something of a cultural renaissance, with\nP&J Live welcoming more than 60,000 people since opening in September and\nthe reopening of the Music Hall at the end of the last year. The momentum\naround the Aberdeen Art Gallery unveiling its new look is growing and promises\nto be the lynchpin of the creative scene in the region.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cThe North-east is awash with majestic settings, stories and experiences that are bound to inspire local musicians to help us bring our cultural campaign to life in spring 2020. We are looking for the sounds to complement the promotion of our area as a cultural hotspot.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
