THE next generation of creative stars are stepping into the spotlight with the launch of a new festival.
Luminate has been introduced to bring North East Scotland College’s end of year events together as part of a packed programme.

Running throughout May and June, the talents of students in a range of creative disciplines will be showcased.
Students in music, drama, photography, media and art and design, including visual communication and textiles, will all have the chance to shine.
The programme features a combination of events open to the public and those tailored to invited audiences.
The College’s Aberdeen City Campus and Fraserburgh Campus are playing host alongside external venues including the Dalrymple Hall in Fraserburgh and, in the city, the Lemon Tree, Krakatoa, the Aberdeen Health Village and Aberdeen Maritime Museum.
The first event under the Luminate banner was a sell-out hit – with The Cheviot, The Stag and the Black, Black Oil drawing to a close last night (16 May) after a successful three-night run.
Next week brings the BrocHNDarts exhibition in Fraserburgh and Luminate will culminate with creative industries end of year shows in Aberdeen and Fraserburgh in June.
NESCol Principal Neil Cowie said: “It’s impossible to miss the excitement in the air as the end of year events and activities burst into life. From theatre productions and musical performances to art exhibitions – there is a phenomenal amount of work taking place behind the scenes to prepare.
“By creating the Luminate festival we want to shine an even brighter light on the talents of students in subjects relating to creative industries and take the opportunity to celebrate their work.
“The events on the programme, some new and some very well established, all offer something very different and there are fantastic opportunities for members of the public to sample the creativity of the class of 2024.”
The Luminate festival is being promoted across the North East by NESCol and its partners. A guide detailing every event can be downloaded from the College’s website, with printed copies available to pick up from NESCol campuses.
