Aimed at 16-24-year-olds, Moving On is specifically designed for Aberdeen’s young workforce, creating an ideal opportunity for the city’s youth to meet employers face-to-face, find out more about their industries, the jobs they have on  offer, and what they’re looking for in candidates.

Since its inception, Moving On, which attracts hundreds of visitors every year has supported businesses across a wide range of sectors to recruit new employees by bringing them together with a pool of young jobseekers. It attracts hundreds of young jobseekers who are keen to secure an apprenticeship, or other full-time or part-time work.

Councillor Jenny Laing, Co-Leader of Aberdeen City Council said: “We have made a strong commitment in Aberdeen to supporting our citizens to find employment and are working closely with partners across a range of sectors to ensure that everyone has an opportunity to access the world of work.

“The Moving On event is one of a range of initiatives designed specifically to support our younger residents secure the type of work or training they want and fits with our commitments to Developing the Young Workforce, the Regional Economic Strategy, and the Local Outcome Improvement Plan.

“I would encourage businesses to take the opportunity to have a presence at this event, which will undoubtedly attract some of the city’s keenest young talent.”

Businesses and training providers are offered the opportunity to take a free stand at the event, which will be held in the Town House from 1pm to 6pm, with a quiet half hour from 1pm to 1.30pm for people with additional support needs.

The closing date for applications for a stand is Monday, 9 March.
