Aberdeen headquartered drilling equipment inspection and maintenance firm announces Saudi Arabia service facility

AN Aberdeen-headquartered drilling equipment inspection and maintenance firm has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Zamil Shipyards to open a base in Dammam, Saudi Arabia.

The collaboration will offer both companies’ clients drilling equipment inspection and service, combined with berthing and full maintenance, repair, and operating shipyard services.

The partnership, which is the first of its kind in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, will see RigQuip’s API Q2 certified drilling equipment service team establish a workshop base at Zamil’s Dammam shipyard and quayside facility, providing inspection and service of complete drilling packages and equipment, including top drives, drawworks, mud pumps, iron roughnecks, pipe handling equipment and pressure control equipment.

Zamil is the leading shipyard in Saudi, and services both the Arabian Gulf and Red Sea regions, offering full maintenance, repair and operation shipyard services.

This announcement is part of its wider strategy to develop an integrated drilling and marine centre of excellence as part of Saudi’s Vision 2030.

Headquartered in the Granite City’s Union Plaza, with service facilities in Dyce, RigQuip has a team of 60 across its six worldwide locations.
