CHURCHILL Drilling Tools, an oilfield services company specialising in drilling innovation, has announced its sponsorship of Aberdeen Wanderers Rugby Club.

The Wanderers, who are enjoying a good season in the Caledonia League 1, have invested the sponsorship in new kit for their squad, including rugby balls.

Craig Strachan, 20, plays as a Prop for the Wanderers and is also a Repair and Maintenance Technician at Churchill’s global headquarters in Aberdeen.  He said: “Securing a major sponsor such as Churchill Drilling Tools is great news for the club.  Having been at the club for 12 years, the level of professionalism continues to improve year on year helped by the sponsorship that we’re attracting.  These are exciting times for the Wanderers and we’re very grateful to everyone at Churchill for their support.”

Craig’s Mum, Susan Strachan, is Secretary of the Wanderers and also works for Churchill as the company’s Buyer.  She added: “Our family’s love affair with the Wanderers stretches 12 years.  It’s great to see our employer, Churchill, also get involved.”

Churchill Drilling Tools has a track record of providing support to local sports initiatives including Peterhead Ladies Rugby Club, Cults Tennis Club and Kippie Lodge Golf Club.  The company and its employees also raise funds for its charity partners, Big Noise Torry.  Executive Manager, Mike Churchill, said: “We’re very pleased to be able to support Aberdeen Wanderers Rugby Club.  There’s a real community and family spirit at the club, which fits with our values.  We hope they have a great season.”
