Aubin Group has been named as a winner of a Queen’s Award for Enterprise, the UK’s highest accolade for business success.

The Ellon-based chemicals and materials technology specialist has received the award for international trade, recognising its significant success in global markets.
With the support of local partners, the firm now exports to over 16 countries, across all the major oil and gas producing regions of the world. It has also enjoyed an increase of more than 100 per cent in export earnings in the last three years.
Paddy Collins, Aubin’s Chief Executive, said: “At Aubin, we are driven by our customers’ requirements. We have developed strong international partnerships over the years and more than 90 per cent of our business is with repeat customers. A number of our international customers have been with us for more than 25 years.
“Around a quarter of our staff work on research and development projects, a significant investment for a company of our size, and our customers appreciate that we are committing considerable resources to provide cost effective solutions for their operational challenges.”
Aubin, which also has subsidiaries in Dubai and Houston, provides made-to-measure solutions with chemical solutions including cementing and stimulation additives, liquid buoyancy, pipeline pigging technologies and pumpable bundle insulation.
The Middle East represents the company’s biggest overseas market, accounting for 45% of sales.
Paddy continued: “We have established a strong presence in the the Middle East and I foresee continued strategic expansion in the region.
“Following significant business success we recently established an office in Dubai, with access to local manufacturing facilities, and have also recently announced a partnership agreement with Rawabi Trading and Contracting in Saudi Arabia.
“The partnership allows Aubin Group to utilise Rawabi Trading and Contracting’s extensive experience to reach more customers and increase stocking and delivery options for Aubin’s chemical products in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
“It is an important step which allows us to further improve the availability and delivery of additives that are urgently required by our customers. Our progress will help us accelerate the delivery of new products from development to deployment.
“Overall we are delighted with our growth and expanding global operations. We are looking to extend our services and the supply of high quality products as part of our international growth strategy, and this includes starting operations in the USA in 2015.”
