UK TOP 50 and leading Scottish law firm Brodies LLP has strengthened its dedicated Aberdeen-based oil and gas practice with the promotion of Laura Petrie to partner.
Laura joined Brodies as legal director in 2019. She specialises in providing corporate and commercial advice to upstream oil and gas clients, as well as having significant service sector experience. Laura is a senior tutor for the energy elective of the Legal Diploma at Aberdeen University.

With 15 dedicated oil and gas lawyers based in Aberdeen, recent energy-sector deals include acting for the majority shareholders of Aberdeenshire and Louisiana based Romar Abrado in the sale to oilfield services firm Archer (listed on the Oslo Stock Exchange), and acting for the Three60 Energy Group in relation to a group reorganisation for a sub group of companies.

Also making the step up to partner in the firm’s latest round of promotions are personal and family solicitor, Jessica Flowerdew, corporate and commercial lawyers Grant Strachan and Robert Ross, and real estate lawyer, Danny George.
Brodies now has more than 100 colleagues based in Brodies House on Union Grove, providing a wide range of legal services including banking and finance; employment; energy (renewables and oil & gas); litigation; M&A, private equity and IP; real estate; pensions and benefits; personal and family and tax.
The firm has committed to a comprehensive refurbishment of the office, aimed to complete this Autumn, creating capacity for further expansion in its team and providing space for clients and colleagues which reflects the changes in ways of working after the pandemic.
