Attic Clothing is an independent clothing store, offering a mix of cutting-edge brands and new designers. It has been established in Aberdeen for over 20 years, having opened its first store in 2001. A second store in Inverurie opened in 2005, relocating to a new site in the town earlier this year.

Formerly occupied by Dr Martens and owned by Aberdeen City Council, 87-89 Union Street is located on the south side of Union Street, within the prime retail pitch of Aberdeen’s principal shopping thoroughfare. Other occupiers located nearby include Jamieson & Carry, JD Sports, Bar 99 and Caffe Nero.

The property sits directly adjacent to the new Aberdeen Market, which is currently being redeveloped to create an outstanding markethall and public realm space that will completely transform this section of Union Street. It will also bring together many of the major areas of activity in Aberdeen including Union Square and Bon Accord shopping centres, the Marischal Square development and Aberdeen bus and railway stations.

Dominic Millar from CBRE in Aberdeen said: “We were proud to have helped local independent retailer Attic Clothing secure its new store in such a prime spot in the city.  The business continues to go from strength to strength and has a unique offering which is hugely popular for fashion-conscious shoppers.  This new store will enable Attic to increase awareness of the brand and attract more footfall, particularly given its place in Union Street Central.”

Richard McLaughlin from Attic Clothing added: “We’ve been trading in Aberdeen for over 20 years now and despite the challenging climate over the past few years, we’ve continued to grow the business. Our recently relocated new site in Inverurie has also been very successful and so we decided the next stage of our growth plan would be to move to a more prominent location in Aberdeen city centre. The Union Street store is a very exciting prospect and we’re looking forward to playing our part in the regeneration of the area as further regeneration projects take shape.”

CBRE acted for Attic Clothing whilst Savills represented the landlord, Aberdeen City Council.
