Shoppers are invited to join Befriend a Child at their Holburn Street shop on Monday 6th April to celebrate the one year anniversary of the shop’s opening. The celebrations will include a tea party as well as fantastic discounts throughout the shop. To tie in with Easter Monday we will be holding a special Easter Egg Hunt with smiley faces hidden on items throughout the shop which can then be redeemed for an Easter Egg.

Befriend a Child provide a 1:1 befriending service for underprivileged and disadvantaged children in Aberdeen city and the shire. The charity shop has given Befriend a Child a greater presence in the city centre and has raised a terrific £12,700 in its first year. Moreover, this total will fund outings for 25 children and their befriender for an entire year.

Shop Manager, Sheena Seago, said ‘There has been an outpouring of support from the local community with thousands of generous donations and over 30 active volunteers. Without our team of committed volunteers that donate both their time and enthusiasm this simply wouldn’t be possible so I would personally like to take this opportunity to thank them. We have had an absolutely incredible first year here at 27 Holburn Street and I can’t wait for next year!’

Throughout the year, the shop is stocked with high quality clothing, shoes and accessories for ladies, gents and children as well as having an extensive range of collectibles and books. The shop is open Monday – Saturday from 10.00am to 5.30pm and we’re always happy to welcome new volunteers.

To get us off to a flying start in year two we’d love you to help us celebrate by donating any unwanted items and don’t forget to grab some tea and cake!
