Ithaca Energy first partnered with AberNecessities as the main sponsor for the charity’s yearly Christmas campaign, ‘Believing in magic’, donating £20,000 to the cause. This generous donation played a crucial role during the holiday season, enabling families facing financial difficulties to enjoy the joy and magic of the season.

Following a first donation of £20,000 in December 2023, Ithaca Energy has continued its support by adding another £26,000 to AberNecessities. This additional funding will be used for AberNecessities’ Sweet Dreams campaign during the second and third quarters of 2024.

The Sweet Dreams campaign is designed to meet a critical need in the community by providing beds, mattresses, and bedding to children and families in need, offering an average of 20 beds monthly to local children. From cozy Moses baskets for newborns to large double beds for teenagers, these donations offer comfort, stability, and a sense of security. Improved sleep quality has a positive effect on both physical and mental health and overall well-being. AberNecessities is honored to maintain its partnership with Sainsbury and Sons, ensuring the charity receives beds at a cost price, which are then distributed to local families for free. This crucial support from Sainsbury and Sons allows AberNecessities to broaden its impact and provide much-needed comfort to children in the community.

Danielle Flecher-Horn, Founder of AberNecessities, expressed profound gratitude for Ithaca Energy’s continued support, stating, “The generosity of Ithaca Energy has been nothing short of extraordinary.

“Their ongoing commitment to our work enables us to make a meaningful difference in the lives of children and families in our community and we are forever grateful to their incredible team. A child having their own bed isn’t just about a place to sleep; it’s about creating a safe space where a child can grow, relax and dream. We are also incredibly grateful for our partnership with Sainsbury and Sons – their continued generosity in providing and delivering beds to families has been a cornerstone of our work to support the well-being of children in our community.”

Julie McAteer, representing Ithaca Energy, reiterated the company’s dedication to corporate social responsibility, saying, “We are delighted to provide support to AberNecessities’ ‘Sweet Dreams campaign’ and we are passionate to support the charity’s vision of positively impacting the lives of local children. Beyond our initial donation’s, teams from across Ithaca Energy have proudly committed their time by volunteering and fundraising to support the charity’s fantastic work in the community. “

Currently, 1 in 5 children across Aberdeen City and Shire are struggling with the harsh reality of poverty amidst the ever-worsening cost of living crisis.
