GUYANA’S rapid economic development and abundant resources make it an ideal destination for businesses seeking growth and expansion, a major business event in Aberdeen heard yesterday (Tuesday, June 20th).
The comments were made by the British High Commissioner to Guyana Jane Miller OBE during the Aberdeen-Guyana Gateway’s centrepiece lunch at the Marcliffe Hotel & Spa. Hosted by Aberdeen-based Granite PR, the event returned to its traditional in-person format for the first time, after operating as a fully digital offering during the pandemic.

The visiting delegation was led by Jane Miller and involved a range of organisations which can offer insight and experience in the Guyana market, including the Department for Business and Trade of the British High Commission, Georgetown Chamber of Commerce & Industry, Guyana Investment Agency and the British Chamber of Commerce Guyana.
The event was chaired by the RT Hon Lord Bruce of Bennachie, Chair of the Caribbean Council and a former Aberdeenshire MP for more than 30 years.
Jane Miller commented: “As the British High Commissioner to Guyana, I am delighted to witness the remarkable business and trade opportunities that have emerged in this vibrant nation.
“The recent launch of British Airways service to Guyana and the establishment of the British Chamber of Commerce are significant milestones in strengthening the bilateral economic ties between the UK and Guyana. The Chamber serves as a dynamic platform, fostering collaboration and forging valuable connections between British and Guyanese businesses. Its presence signifies a commitment to unlocking the immense potential that exists in sectors such as infrastructure, agriculture, healthcare, education and beyond.”
She added: “The Aberdeen Guyana Gateway event plays a pivotal role in unlocking these opportunities by providing a platform for businesses to connect, collaborate, build synergies and forge partnerships. Together with our trade missions, we can propel businesses towards success and foster sustainable growth of mutual benefit to Guyana and the UK.”
