SPANISH retail giant Porcelanosa has lodged plans to expand into Aberdeen with a new showroom near the Haudagain roundabout.

The global brand – which offers high-end surfaces, fixtures & tiles for the home, bathroom and kitchen – is seeking planning consent to build new premises on Great Northern Road, on the site of the former Vardy Garage.

The showroom is expected to create around 30 jobs, adding to the 1,000 people employed by Porcelanosa across the globe.

Founded in Villarreal, Spain, in 1973, Porcelanosa established itself in the UK in the early 1980s and has had a strong presence ever since.

The group trades in 150 countries worldwide and specialises in single-fired porous, stoneware, and porcelain wall and floor tiles in an extensive variety of formats and finishes.
