THE SEARCH is on to find the crème de la crème of young talent in the tourism and hospitality sector.
Aberdeen City and Shire Thistle Awards (ACSTA) has created a new category – The MacRobert Trust Emerging Talent Award – which will reward the achievements of one individual. Entrants should be able to demonstrate the greatest of skills in their chosen sector of the tourism and hospitality sector and can represent the industry positively.

Open to those working full time in any role in the tourism and hospitality who is aged between 16 and 25, the winner will receive a bespoke HIT Scotland scholarship tailored to the development needs of the individual.
Stephen Gow, chairman of ACSTA said: “The future of Scotland’s hospitality and tourism industry depends on inspiring our next generation. We have introduced this new award for 2023 to recognise the achievements of our industry’s young people who display a passion and enthusiasm. The award also gives an opportunity to demonstrate the investment they make in their workforce.
“We are only able to offer this award thanks to the generous support and sponsorship of The MacRobert Trust and HIT Scotland and we are grateful to both organisations for helping us to recognise everything that our young talent brings to the sector.”
The MacRobert Trust aims to award over £1million annually through charitable giving aligned to three key themes including Education and Advancing Professional Excellence. The MacRobert Trust also supports the local Hospitality Apprenticeship North East programme.
HIT Scotland’s scholarship programme empowers development for those working in the Scottish hospitality industry. The content of each HIT scholarship is tailored to the personal development objectives of the individual.
There are fourteen categories in the 2023 awards for businesses and organisations of all sizes across Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire.
Entries, which are made via the website, close on Friday 12 May.
The regional awards ceremony will take place in Aberdeen at The Chester Hotel on Friday 22 September. Local winners will then go forward to represent the north east at the national Scottish Thistle Awards in November.
