NUART Aberdeen – the Granite City’s world-acclaimed street art festival – will make a spectacular and colourful return this summer.

Work is well underway to secure some of the most acclaimed and upcoming street artists who will descend on Aberdeen from June 6 to 9 from around the globe to transform walls and spaces with stunning works from jaw-dropping large-scale murals to smaller and more intimate pieces.

The hugely popular event, staged by Aberdeen Inspired, will draw thousands of visitors to the city centre while leaving a legacy that will live on long after the weekend festival is over.

Adrian Watson, chief executive of Aberdeen Inspired, said: “We are delighted to announce that Nuart Aberdeen is returning this summer, and we can’t wait to see what the world-renowned talented artists will bring to the city in what is a truly transformational event.

“Nuart Aberdeen is now recognised as one of the best street art festivals in the world, one which has put our city firmly on the map while attracting thousands of visitors, many of them from around the world. They not only enjoy these eye-catching works but also linger in the city, boosting local businesses, restaurants, bars and hotels.

“The atmosphere on the weekend of the festival is second to none, creating such a brilliant, vibrant buzz enjoyed by everyone who comes along.”

Martyn Reed, curator of Nuart both here in Aberdeen and Stavanger, is already lining up artists to be part of the festival, with the 2024 theme to be announced. So, too, is the list of walls across Aberdeen where the artists will work their magic.

“I’m absolutely thrilled and honoured to be back in what’s become my second home,” said Martyn, who first launched Nuart Aberdeen in 2017.

“The team can’t wait to get started on what’s quickly become regarded as one of the country’s leading events of its type. There’s already a buzz from the international street art community and with strong support from our local partners we’re confident we can do the event and city proud.”

Nuart Aberdeen is a not-for-profit event supported by partners Aberdeen Inspired and Aberdeen City Council, delivered by Reed Projects.

Councillor Martin Greig, culture spokesperson for Aberdeen City Council, said: “Nuart has grown into a very popular arts festival that is enjoyed by thousands of local people and visitors.

“It is great to welcome artists back for this next stage in the Nuart journey. The images add so much colour and vibrancy to city streets.”.

Full details of Nuart Aberdeen 2024 – including the walls which will be in the mix – will be made in the coming weeks.
