The launch event at the Trinity Hall Holburn Street Aberdeen will kick start the 12 month countdown to Topsides UK, the 2 day event being hosted at Aberdeen Exhibition and Conference Centre on 16th and 17th March 2016.
The evening will introduce attendees to the concept behind the conference and exhibition and there will also be industry peers speaking on how the industry can work smarter to meet the challenges facing the sector.
With an integrated conference arena and over 1,000m2 of exhibition space, Topsides UK will provide a platform to engage, where attendees shall focus on opportunities to drive cost efficiencies, maximise productivity and enhance production, with its primary focus on topsides operations.
Gavin Esslemont, Director of Aberdeen based event organiser Xcite Oil and Gas, comments: “Topsides UK is the first of its kind in the UK and Europe. Here in Aberdeen, we have an incredible opportunity to bring industry professionals together to interact directly to discover and establish realistic opportunities for smarter working to the benefit of our economy – both in Aberdeen and further afield. This approach is of particular value to businesses and individuals this year given the current industry climate.”
“The conference and exhibition has already attracted many high profile endorsements from across the industry, with the AECC already confirming it up to 2018. This positive response has further highlighted the need for something like this in the UK and European oil & gas industry.”
Dr. John Hargreaves, of Aberdeen based Peak Global Consultancy added, “The UK, and Aberdeen in particular, has been at the heart of oil & gas exploration, setting a lot of the operational benchmarks replicated across the globe. At a time where we are hit with the global challenge of ageing assets, depleting reserves and a volatile oil price it is vital that we respond by making the changes required to improve efficiencies, lower production costs will continue to rise and drive the recovery of our industry. Topsides UK will enable debate and showcase some of the technology needed to make this happen.”
Topsides UK’s chosen charity partner is Scottish Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI), who announced in January its volunteers responded to 1004 incidents during 2014.
