University of Aberdeen law student among the top 10 in the UK

ABERDEEN law student Hamza Afzal is one of 10 finalists and the only Scottish student in the running for the prestigious Undergraduate Future Lawyer of the Year Awards 2023. 

The 21-year-old, who is studying Law with English law, was one of more than 5,000 entrants from across the UK to take part in the competition which seeks to identify high achievers with ambition and entrepreneurial spirit.

Run by Target Jobs in partnership with commercial law firm Clyde & Co, the award is given to those students who display a range of analytical, creative and commercial skills, regardless of degree discipline. 

Hamza had to complete two intensive rounds of testing before being shortlisted by a panel of judges. 

“I entered this prestigious award to test my abilities, as I understand now that the job market is not all about IQ, but also EQ and I wanted showcase and test my emotional quotient on a national level. Being shortlisted for this award is an honour and privilege and will allow me to successfully become an international commercial lawyer and open doors to some of the biggest law firms in the world.”

The awards ceremony takes place on 21 April 2023 at Eastwinter Gardens, Canary Wharf, where the winner will be announced.
