In her capacity as a board member, Julie will work alongside six others, providing strategic guidance to Aberdeen Cyrenians’ leadership team. Her role will involve ensuring the charity’s resources are utilised effectively to achieve its mission of supporting vulnerable individuals experiencing homelessness, abuse, violence, and social exclusion.

“I was drawn to contribute to a local charity making a significant impact on the lives of vulnerable people,” said Julie. “Aberdeen Cyrenians’ work is remarkable, and I am eager to support its fundraising strategy during these challenging times, particularly amid the current cost of living crisis.”

Julie’s appointment coincides with Trustees Week, a national initiative recognizing the invaluable contributions of trustees across the UK. Donna Hutchison, Head of Corporate and Business Services at Aberdeen Cyrenians, highlighted the crucial role of board members and encouraged individuals from diverse backgrounds, including those with lived experiences, to apply for such positions.

“We are delighted to have Julie join us during Trustees Week,” said Donna. “Our trustees play a pivotal role in challenging and supporting our leadership team, ensuring we continue our essential work. We believe a diverse board is fundamental to our success, and we welcome individuals interested in supporting our organisation at this level.”
