Participants are encouraged to move a mile a day, with the ultimate goal of accomplishing an ultra-marathon over the 31 days of March.

Last year, Marathon March successfully raised £18,018 for The Archie Foundation thanks to the individuals, families, schools and businesses which took part.

This year, the charity is eager to exceed this milestone and raise even more funds to support babies, children and families at The Royal Aberdeen Children’s Hospital, Tayside Children’s Hospital in Dundee and the Highland Children’s Unit in Inverness.

Cassie McGunnigle, fundraising manager at The Archie Foundation said: “We are thrilled to bring Marathon March back for another year and hope to raise as much as possible across the North and North-east. What sets this challenge apart is its inclusivity, so whether you walk, jog, run, or move in any way you can, everyone is welcome. You can invite your friends, family and classmates to join in the fun or even bring your dog!”

“It’s a fantastic opportunity to embrace the outdoors, stay active, and support The Archie Foundation, all at the same time. There’s nothing more special than seeing our supporters rallying to accumulate thousands of miles for the babies, children and families we support.”

This year the charity is encouraging local schools and businesses to take part, with an added incentive in the shape of a trip to a local trampoline park.

“Following the incredible success of Drumoak School last year, who raised an incredible £1,600 for their efforts, this year we’re extending a special invitation to schools, encouraging them to take on the challenge. The class which raises the most funds will enjoy a free trip to Jump-In Aberdeen,” added Cassie.

The funds generated through Marathon March play a crucial role in supporting The Archie Foundation’s essential work, providing assistance to babies, children and families.
