The approval came despite more than 800 local objections about the scheme, which is earmarked for land zoned for 60 homes in the Aberdeen Local Development Plan.

The scheme will go back before councillors tomorrow as Bancon seek to vary the condition which limits the number of units to be built.

The developers have submitted a revised indicative layout to show how 99 units could be accommodated on site. This has reignited local opposition.

The revised layout shows a lower density of units in the north-east part of the site, suggested for affordable housing, and smaller house types along the southern boundary.

The application has been referred to the Planning Development Management Committee following an objection from Cults, Bieldside and Milltimber Community Council, as well as 17 letters of objection.

Much of the community concerns relate to the schools in both Milltimber and Cults being near capacity.

However, councillors have been advised to approve the scheme, subject to a number of conditions
