CLAN Cancer Support is urging the public across the North-east and Northern Isles to volunteer as part of this year’s Big Hop art sculpture trail.

The trail is due to take the public on a cultural tour of the north-east of Scotland and Northern Isles from July to September this year. The event, which coincides with Clan’s 40th anniversary, will see 40 striking hare sculptures located throughout Clan’s geography celebrating the charity’s commitment to supporting people affected by cancer, their family, carers and friends.

The volunteering opportunities offered by the charity are now available for the public to sign up for.

Clan is looking for people to take on a range of roles including helping with the installation of sculptures, assisting with their farewell weekend, as well as delivering the small sculptures to their locations.

Teresa Bremner, Clan’s sculpture trail project manager, said: “Volunteers are at the heart of everything Clan does. We wouldn’t be able to provide vital support services or host large scale events without their generosity.”

“We are delighted to be able to offer the public the chance to get involved with the trail at a more ‘hands on’ level. By offering a range of volunteering opportunities it gives people the chance to be part of something exciting at a local level.”

Teresa added: “With many different roles to sign up for at various times, there will be something for everyone to get involved in. It’s the perfect way to further your skillset, meet new people, and engage in your local community.”
