THE North-east has been named as the best place to live in Great Britain following a survey of more than 6,000 residents.
The poll, carried out by HomeViews, reviews the the country’s new property developments, with residents rating every aspect of their property, including location.
Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire “blew the competition out the water”, according to HomeView, who also analysed house and rent prices in the city.
The average property price in Aberdeen this year, according to Rightmove, is £211,205. That’s some way below the UK average of £290,000, and despite prices increasing in the city by 4% last year, compared with the national average of 1.1%.
Rental prices in the area have gone up the least, increasing 7.7% to £1,028. Edinburgh, who came top of the survey last year, saw rental prices rise by 28.2%.
Rory Cramer, co-founder and CEO of HomeViews, said: “Our review data shows that great transport links, walkability and nearby, quality amenities are all key factors in making a location highly-rated.
“A sense of friendliness of an area also came through, which can be broken down into community, safety and connecting with the wider locality.
“Interestingly, mentions of outside space have reduced significantly post-Covid, as people are focusing more on travelling and socialising in nearby bars, restaurants and shopping areas.”
