ACUMEN Accountants, a prominent accountancy firm based in Aberdeen, has solidified its expansion plans with the successful acquisition of Graeme Munro & Company Ltd, a fellow North-East firm. The 6-figure transaction, officially completed on October 24, 2023, is a strategic move driven by the retirement of Graeme Munro, founder of the acquired firm.
The acquisition has seen all four remaining staff members of Graeme Munro & Company seamlessly integrate into the Acumen team, propelling the total workforce to 38 employees. Ross Murray, Managing Director of Acumen Accountants, outlined the significance of this move, stating, “The acquisition of Graeme Munro & Co fits into our ambitious growth strategy, giving us a further foothold in Aberdeenshire. He highlighted the commitment of the existing team at Acumen and expressed excitement about building and expanding the firm to deliver the best possible service to both existing and new clients.
Graeme Munro, commenting on the retirement-driven decision to pass on the business, stated, “In planning for retirement, my desire was to pass the business and my clients onto a local, professional firm where they would be well looked after.
