COUNCILLORS have quashed the idea of a multi-million-pound holiday park on Aberdeen’s beachfront.

The plans – revealed yesterday – were drawn up by businessman Hamish McDonald, who envisaged about 150 lodges close to the seafront.

Appearing before the finance committee, Mr McDonald suggested the plans could rake in millions to the local economy each year.

However, it was agreed by the committee that the land was “not considered suitable for this use”.

But the Aberdeen-born businessman insisted he is “by no means putting this to bed”.
