NORTH-east Scotland’s business community has come out in force once again to support the Celebrate Aberdeen Awards.

Principal sponsors this year are energy sector operators CNOOC International and CNR International, along with local Business Improvement District (BID) Aberdeen Inspired, all longtime supporters of Celebrate Aberdeen. Also returning this year as award category sponsors are Cala Homes, Hampton, Breakwater Agency and Flexistore Aberdeen, while The Trades Widows Fund Charity has joined the team for the first time.

The awards ceremony, which will be held on Saturday, October 28th at The Chester Hotel, Aberdeen, recognises and pays tribute to the positive impact individuals, organisations, and volunteers in the third sector make to thousands of lives across Aberdeen City and Shire.

Now in its fourth year, the eight award categories include Large Organisation of the Year, Small Organisation of the Year, Volunteer of the Year, and Young Supporter of the Year. The finalists will be announced later this month.

Without the support of the sponsors, the award event could not take place. Thanks to their generosity all the finalists and their supporters will attend the event for free.

“Charities and community groups are at the heart of our local community, providing essential health, wellbeing, and financial support to thousands of people across Aberdeen,” said Mark Berry, Manager, Management Systems, CNOOC International. “That is why CNOOC International is thrilled to be partnering with Celebrate Aberdeen, recognising the many volunteers and group leaders who make a difference to people’s lives and shape Aberdeen’s strong community spirit.”

Barry Duncan, Managing Director & VP Finance, CNR International (UK) Limited, said: “CNR International has supported Celebrate Aberdeen from day one, it’s a great event, celebrating the fantastic work done by so many third sector organisations in and around Aberdeen.

“These are challenging times for all charities, with increased demand for support coupled with funding issues, something of a “perfect storm”. It’s fitting to recognise the efforts and resilience of all local charities, their staff and volunteers, which is what Cerebrate Aberdeen is all about.”

Celebrate Aberdeen Board Member, Susan Crighton said: “The support of our sponsors is absolutely crucial. The ability to hold an awards ceremony is entirely due to their generosity, so without them, the event simply could not take place, so we’re extremely grateful to them for making this special night possible.

“Huge thanks also go to all the local businesses who have signed up to sponsor the award categories and to our small team of volunteers who work so hard behind the scenes to plan and run the Celebrate Aberdeen events.”

The awards follow on from the parade which took place in August with support from Celebrate Aberdeen partner Aberdeen City Council.
